WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Behind most success tales, there’s often one factor in widespread; an incredible mentor. Plato had Socrates; Invoice Gates had Warren Buffet. Heck, even Harry Potter had a mentor within the type of Dumbledore. And, because of Massive Brothers Massive Sisters of Wichita County, mentor-mentee relationships are returning to the campus of Midwestern State College.
“It’s actually rewarding on the finish of the day. It looks as if rather a lot, however, what you give to this system, you’re going to get proper again,” MSU scholar Aliya Muhammad stated.
Aliya and fellow MSU scholar MD Abubakkar are returning mentors for the MSU Collegiate Students program.
This system has paired present MSU college students with third and fourth graders from Ben Milam and Scotland Park Elementary College for the final six years. College students go to twice a month with their MSU mentor to play video games, hang around, and most significantly, have an older determine to lean on.
“They arrive to a school campus, and so they’re surrounded by bold, clever, hard-working people who find themselves doing one thing with their life,” Massive Brothers Massive Sisters Advertising and marketing and Improvement Director Jean Corridor stated.
Mentors like Abubakkar say they typically see themselves of their mentees.
Abubakkar grew up in a household with all women and went to his uncle for issues he couldn’t discuss to his mother and father about or have a way of brotherhood he missed out on with so many sisters. At the moment, Abubakkar serves as that uncle for another person and hopes to proceed.
“He got here to hug me once we had been leaving for the entire summer season. That was emotional and one of many excessive factors for me after I realized I actually bonded with the child,” Abubakkar stated. “Once we are profitable, we’re somebody they will look as much as.”
